Abstract/Contents:Discusses testing of water pumping plants. Lists benefits of testing including "increased water output of pump, reduced operation time of pumping plant, reduced energy costs, increased life of power unit, possible increased irrigated acreage, awareness of future problems or improvements needed, and awareness of well characteristics." Presents results of irrigation plant efficiency tests "conducted by the University of Nebraska's Department of Agricultural Engineering." Also lists five measurements "used in conducting a pumping plant efficiency test": pump water level, discharge pressure, discharge flow rate, grearhead and engine rpm, and fuel use during pump operation.
