There are specific chapters addressing the construction, establishment, and culture of turfgrasses on greens, turfed tees, fairways, roughs, and bunkers, including summary cultural systems by grass species. Also, it contains chapters on architecture, construction, equipment, irrigation systems, and personnel management, records, and budgets. A chapter on pest management contains excellent drawings of weeds and color photographs of diseases and insects. An extensive glossary and appendix are in the back. The book was sponsored by the United States Golf Association, as were the earlier books by C.V. Piper and R.A. Oakley (1917) and by H.B. Musser (1950). Members of the Editorial Board were A.M. Radko, W.H. Bengeyfield, W.G. Buchanan, J.B. Moncrief, C.H. Schwartzkopf, and S.J. Zontek, while the Review Board members were W.J. Carson, L.A. Eggleston, P. Maples Jr., S.A. Sherwood, A.A.
