| Abstract/Contents: | Explains that black cutworms are not easily removed from putting greens or the fairways and roughs around putting greens. They have the strength to survive though the mowing blades when a putting green is mowed and will hatch later, therfore clipping should be disposed of far enough away from tees and greens. In addition in the tall grasses around the putting greens, the cutworms lay their eggs at the bottom of the blade and are usually not removed by mowing. These insects are most active during the night so pesticides are best applied in the evening, also sand topdressing seems to deter them. |
