Abstract/Contents:"This paper is particularly concerned with fertility management programs of putting greens in Southern California. Nitrification rates of various commercial methylene urea sources are not given. Important differences in the quantities of nitrogen becoming soluble during the first few days were noted. Applications to turfgrass of quantities as high as 80 pounds per thousand square feet of 38% N methylene urea did not burn the grass when watered in. They maintained nitrogen at adequate levels for periods of 6 months and longer. Applications of 20 pounds per thousand did not maintain adequate N levels for periods longer than about 3 to 4 months. The properties of a potassium glass frit are discussed. A single application of this material at the rate of 40 pounds per 1000 square feet appears to maintain K levels at adequate levels for at least a year, even under conditions of very high leaching."
