Abstract/Contents:"Kentucky bluegrass turf was fertilized with ureaformaldehyde (38% N), concentrated superphosphate (20% P) and muriate of potash (50% K). Sixteen fertilizer treatment combinations consisting of from 0 to 10 pounds nitrogen, from 0 to 2.6 pounds phosphorus and from 0 to 5 pounds potassium per 1000 square feet were arranged with 4 replications in a central composite design. Quality ratings were made on the turf at regular intervals throughout the summer. These were correlated with yields of clippings and with nitrogen phosphorus and potassium analyses of foliage. High correlations were obtained between yields and applied nitrogen and between applied nitrogen and nitrogen found in the clippings. Visual quality ratings were also highly correlated with yields. The use of quality ratings as a variable for prediction of nitrogen requirements of bluegrass turf appears justified. Effects of phosphorus and potassium were limited. A nitrogen-phosphorus interaction reduced turf quality during hot weather where these nutrients had been used at high rates."
