| Abstract/Contents: | Suggests giving chain saws a late-winter bar exam in a "warm, well-lit room that has a flat and level table." Recommends stacking the bars on the table and viewing it from the side. Explains that "any bar that makes the stack unstable is scrap." Suggests that when stood up on its rails a bar "should stand up at 90 degrees on a flat, level surface." Warns that "bar rails are super-hard steel and will ruin a file pretty quickly." States that "if the sprocket teeth are worn to sharp points, [there is] excess wear." Suggests the possibility of a price break if a no-rush batch of bars is brought to a saw specialist. |
