| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the use of recycled water on the golf course. Lists several compounds found in recycled water, including sodium, chlorine, chloride, carbonate, and bicarbonate. States that "among these are endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs), which interfere with hormonal processes that control cellular development." Explains that "birth-control pills, othe rdrugs and the byproducts of common household products such as paint, household cleaners, laundry detergent, shampoos and hair color contribute to the load of EDCs in municipal wastewater." Mentions plans for a project in California and Nevada to monitor EDCs. |
