Abstract/Contents:Profiles seashore paspalum, detailing its use at multiple golf courses in the United States. Discusses seashore paspalum's high salt tolerance, suggesting that salt may be used as a herbicide if weeds emerge. States that "it grows in such poor conditions; the color of it is excellent. It takes the herbicides, it takes growth regulators. It's fairly drought tolerant." Explains that golf courses using seashore paspalum during the summer of 2010 did not experience the trouble that other courses had with bermudagrass and bentgrass. Provides recommendations for maintaining seashore paspalum, focusing on mowing practices. Briefly discusses preliminary research on the use of salt as an herbicide and concludes that superintendents "can do so much more with paspalum than [they] can with bermuda."
