| Abstract/Contents: | Suggests that the most serious environmental challenge facing golf courses is the threat of phosphorus runoff. Describes a survey of fourty-four studies at eighty different golf courses that "evaluated both surface and ground water samples" and 161 pesticides were studied. Reports that "86% of surface water samples exceeded their ecoregional criteria" for phosphorus. Suggests that golf course superintendents "implement best management practices (BMPs) to reduce the loss of phosphorus" including annual soil testing and environmental risk assessments. |
