| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses algae control in golf course ponds, suggesting that a good knowledge of basic pond biology can help to understand pond health and the emergence of algae blooms. Highlights vertical and horizontal water movement as a key to potentially controlling algae growth, and the use of visual evaluation to detect its development. Notes that a balance of nutrients and natural predators may also diminish an excess of algae and foster good algae, stating that "helping small-celled algae win the algae war is a low-maintenance and economical way to ensure that the pond remains a featured attraction on the course." |
