| Abstract/Contents: | Discusses the process of tree removal and suggests how it should be undertaken. States that an inventory should be kept of each tree on the course, its maintenance conditions, and the condition of the turf surrounding it. Notes that this gathered information should be supplemented with information from industry experts and incorporated into a long-term strategy. Explains that once a strategy is created, a tree maintenance principles manual should be developed with input from the board and followed when removing trees. Notes that many emotional issues can be attached to tree removal from members, but they can be minimized by creating a detailed plan that is presented to the membership. |
