Abstract/Contents:"Annual bluegrass (Poa annua) is highly susceptible to winterkill injury, particularly ice encasement. This can occur due to ice storms, poor drainage, and snow melt with subsequent freezing temperatures. There has been anecdotal evidence to suggest that maintaining dry greens in the fall has a reduction in injury due to ice encasement. In addition to soil moisture, plant growth regulator (PGR) treatments have been found to reduce ice encasement injury. This study aims to implement and observe the main and interaction effects of soil moisture and PGR treatment on annual bluegrass. This will help inform novel management strategies to reduce the incidence of winterkill."
