Abstract/Contents:"With more than 2000 species being recognized, sedge (Carex spp.) is an herbaceous perennial, showing important economic and ecological potential using as turfgrass, forage, and restoration. A comprehension of the genetic diversity phenotypical variations of Carex germplasm could enable the effective utilization of these germplasm sources in future breeding endeavors. Therefore, the objective of this study is to estimate the genetic diversity, population structure, and their relationships with morphological and physiological variations of sedge collected from Oklahoma and Texas. Materials used in this study consist 35 samples from seven sites between 30°11' to 36°13' N. From this study, genetic diversity and population structural analyses based on 88,080 SNP derived from genotyping-by-sequencing revealed 3 subpopulations. The findings of this study help understand population evolution and morphological response to temperature and the potential use of Carex breeding
