Abstract/Contents:"As the impact of water limitations becomes more apparent around the world the issue of managing turfgrass has gained much argument in many locations.Turfgrass is viewed by many as a heavy user of water while turfgrass managers will point to the benefits of a perennial crop that reduces soil erosion, enhances ground water quality and provides a host of other benefits. Prohexadione calcium (PC) is a growth regulator that is used as an anti-lodging agent by seed producers and by turfgrass managers for enhancing putting green surface quality and slows plant growth. The objective of this trial was to evaluate PC for use as a possible product that would allow a putting green turfgrass surface retain surface quality while water deficit stress occurred. The trial evaluated dark green color indices (DGCI), normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI), color, quality and Fv/FM during the summers of 2022 and 2023 with a rainout shelter being used to initialize deficit water stress on Creeping bentgrass Agrostis stolonifera cv. 'Pure Distinction'."
