| Abstract/Contents: | "Seeds of tall fescue (Festuca arundinacea cv. 'Tempo') were soaked in S3307 at concentrations of 0, 5, 10, 20 and 40 ppm for 4 hours. Germination energy, germination percentage and germination index were lowered with increased S3307 concentration. Reduction of these germination parameters was especially pronounced with 40 ppm of S3307. Seedling height and root length were significantly inhibited by S3307 treatments. Shoot and root dry weight, however, were not responsive to S3307, while chlorophyll content of the shoot and the root/shoot ratio increased slightly in the presence of the retardant. Under drought stress, the rate of decline of the relative water content of seedling shoots was retarded by S3307 treatment, particularly at the highest level used." |
